Buffalo Trail Public Schools requires a full-time temporary teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. Placement will be at Kitscoty Elementary School. The teaching assignment will include a combined Grade 2/3 classroom and additional duties as assigned by the principal.
Kitscoty Elementary School (KES) has a staff of 15 Teachers and 10 Support Staff offering instruction to approximately 250 students in Grade 1 to 6. KES also houses a private, accredited Kindergarten (ECS) program. KES offers many extra-curricular programs such as drama, cooking club, running club, volleyball, and basketball. Students enrolled in KES come from the community of Kitscoty, from the surrounding agricultural area, and from numerous acreages in the vicinity. https://kes.btps.ca/
Kitscoty Elementary School is located in the small, caring community of Kitscoty, located only 15 minutes west of Lloydminster. A large number of parents work in the city of Lloydminster and in the neighbouring oil producing area. Its close proximity to Lloydminster makes it an attractive location for families that want to raise their families in a small town but within a short distance of city amenities. The population of Kitscoty is approximately 1000 and continues to grow as the village and the community of Blackfoot open new residential areas.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
Shall be a dynamic student-centered educator committed to maximizing learning in a safe and caring environment
Experience and/or training in the application of Assessment for Learning strategies, embedded formative assessment, and varied summative assessments is essential
Possess a strong background in the use of technology to enhance student learning
Ability to create a positive learning environment and foster positive professional relationships with students
Is dependable with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate in a team setting
Demonstrates a strong commitment to professional growth and continually increasing their effectiveness as an educator
A willingness to participate in extracurricular activities would be considered an asset
Experience teaching in a Division 1 classroom, Grade 2 and 3 in particular, would be considered an asset
Must have experience and/or training in maintaining an inclusive environment in your classroom, including the ability to differentiate instruction for students at varying levels
Knowledge and experience with the evidence-based literacy practices and early literacy would be considered an asset
