About the role Finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs We are looking for multiple Temporary Industrial Electricians to provide electrical construction, installation, relocation, repair, and preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, and facilities for the optimum operating efficiency. **Scheduling is based on operational relief needs and can vary based on the department assigned, but typically can include 12-hour shifts, nights, and weekends. This role is a great opportunity for a safety-oriented and skilled individual to grow their career in a large-scale industrial environment. The temporary employee will have the opportunity to apply for vacant permanent Electrician positions as they become available. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, and working within our Smelter Operations & Services teams, you will be:
  • Working safely in accordance with Rio Tinto safety standards \xe2\x80\x93 actively engaging in safety initiatives promoting our \xe2\x80\x9cZero harm\xe2\x80\x9d safety culture. Including lock-out/tag-out and isolation procedures
  • Inspecting, installing, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing industrial electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronic controls. Servicing includes calibration and preventative/predictive maintenance
  • Using power and hand equipment, often performing work at heights which require climbing and the use of safety equipment i.e., harness, lanyard, SRL\xe2\x80\x99s, man-lifts, scissor-lifts
  • Utilizing SAP to enter work completion records, and preparation, ordering, and retrieval of parts lists.
  • Keeping your work area safe, clean and well maintained. Taking timely action to correct unsafe work conditions in your work area
  • Maintaining a continuous improvement focus by developing and participating in implementation of appropriate solutions to eliminate the issues/problems identified in the work area
  • Working effectively as an individual and within a team, including communicating respectfully to all team members and stakeholders

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Interprovincial Red Seal Electrician qualification
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience performing electrical maintenance
  • Must be able to read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications
  • Valid BC Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License (minimum of Class 7)
  • Willing to work varying shift schedules as assigned, including rotating 12-hour shifts (rosters include both days, nights, and weekends)
