Job Description


Duties: In addition to those duties outlined in the job description, duties include supporting students with diverse needs and/or high behavioural needs. Without restricting the generality of the purpose above, the Educational Assistant 2 shall perform such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned including but not restricted to the following:

The Educational Assistant II will be required to complete specific and ongoing on the job training and will be required to support and handle the service dog of the student.

- Selection of the applicant will be in accordance with CUPE Agreement 9.02 c) and may not be the most senior applicant.

- Position classified as EAII due to extensive and specific on the job training requirements not able to be achieved through typical education / certification

-Should full time be desired, the successful applicant will be assigned to .5 FTE general EA in accordance with CUPE Agreement 16.01 h) Education & Qualifications:

  • A minimum of Grade 12 diploma from a recognized educational institution as approved by the Board of Education or General Educational Development (GED)
  • A minimum of one (1) year post-secondary training related to student needs such as Educational Assistant, Early Childhood Development, Youth Worker or Rehabilitation Worker (such training must be from a recognized educational institution as approved by the Employer)
  • NVCI and TLR training if required
  • A minimum of two (2) years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in providing direct personal care
  • A valid Class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
Physical Requirements: The ability to do heavy work is required in some assignments (i.e., exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to lift students and/or move objects).

Wage & Benefits: In accordance with the current CUPE Local 5512 Collective Bargaining Agreement. Currently, this is a range of $21.62 to $26.61per hour.
