Temporary Dining Room Cashier / Food Service Assistant

Position Summary:
We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and motivated individual to join our Food Services team on a temporary basis. This position is responsible for providing excellent customer service in the Dining Room, processing transactions, and assisting kitchen staff as needed.

To perform this job successfully the individual must be able to achieve the responsibilities listed below with excellence, focusing on work quality, timeliness, and precision.
All LSCO employees are expected to perform responsibilities to meet organizational and funding requirements as directed by mandate and policy.
Greet customers and provide exceptional customer service.
Take customer orders using a computerized Point of Sale (POS) system; process payments (cash, credit, or account).
Ensure accurate order information is relayed to kitchen staff; may deliver food orders to tables.
Stock display coolers and counters with desserts, beverages, and other items.
Wipe down tables and ensure tables are supplied (sugar, salt/pepper, napkins, etc.); provide direction to volunteer table washers.
Prepare in-house requisitions (e.g., coffee carts).
Maintain cleanliness of counters and equipment following daily/weekly/monthly cleaning schedules.
Monitor inventory and report shortages (beverages, paper goods, condiments, containers, etc.) to the Food Service Coordinator.
Assist cooks with food preparation, event set-up, and other duties as required (e.g., sandwiches, salads, desserts, cleaning).
Report equipment issues or unsafe conditions to the Food Services Coordinator.
Perform opening and closing duties, including end-of-day shutdown and lock-up procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of cashier experience (experience in a food establishment preferred).
Food preparation skills are considered an asset.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; physically able to stand for full shifts and lift 25+ lbs.
Self-motivated, team-oriented, and able to work independently when needed.
Friendly, positive, and respectful attitude towards coworkers, volunteers, and customers.
