THE ROLE
This is general clerical and supervision work providing support services in an elementary school. An employee of this class provides general office, library and/or classroom assistance. Work performance is reviewed and evaluated by an administrator in terms of effective services rendered to the school.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Sound knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic.
Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & Power Point) and software applications.
Working knowledge of the rules and regulations governing school office, library and/or classroom practices and procedures.
Working knowledge of modern office, library and/or classroom practices and procedures.
Working knowledge of methods and procedures in controlling and regulating behaviour of students.
Ability to operate a computer and the software applications necessary to prepare, maintain and produce a variety of materials.
Ability to perform a variety of general office, library or classroom assistance tasks.
Ability to operate general office and/or school equipment.
Ability to maintain order and safety of students using behaviour management and conflict resolution techniques.
Ability to administer basic first aid.
Ability to maintain effective relationships with students, staff, and parents in supplying assistance and information.
Skill in keyboarding.
DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of the 12th grade or equivalent, plus basic first aid, including courses in keyboarding and micro-computer and software applications. Six months related experience, including clerical work and working with children, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
The rate of pay will be $30.74/hour
