The Mikisew Cree First Nation (Mikisew) has lived on the ancestral lands of the Athabasca Delta and Wood Buffalo National Park in northeastern Alberta since time immemorial. The lives of our members are linked to the land and to a close understanding of traditions, history and a natural way of life. Many of our members live in the hamlet of Fort Chipewyan, and our traditional lands range over a large portion of Athabasca oil sands deposits.

Who You Are





Mikisew is currently seeking a temporary dedicated, compassionate and experienced Administrative Coordinator. Reporting to Director of Education & Therese Tuccaro Secondary School principal, the Executive Assistant is responsible for administrative support of the Director and Principal.



The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented and proactive. They can handle sensitive, confidential information with discretion. This role works closely with executive education staff to support and implement short- and long-term goals, ensure service delivery, and promote transparent and accountable education governance and operations.

This is a temporary position ending June 30, 2026.






Roles & Responsibilities:






Screen and manage incoming calls, and directing them to appropriate parties. Prioritize and manage calendar requests and inquiries to ensure seamless day to day engagements Plan and schedule appointments, meetings, conferences, online meetings, and travel. Review documents, reports, and correspondence for format, content, grammar and spelling. Handle administrative tasks such as preparing complex documents and reports, composing correspondence, maintaining contact lists, preparing expense reports, and assisting with special projects. Coordinate and manage activities related to education events as required. Assist with activities within the Mikisew departments in coordination with the Director and other department personnel. Manage Directors and Principal Calendars, and efficiently arranges and oversees meeting logistics, ensuring that all necessary documents and meeting agendas are prepared ahead of scheduled meetings. Attend meeting to record the minutes, and follow up on actions and decisions from the meetings. Oversee front end of the education office and/or school office. Maintain office supplies, business cards, catering, and other needs required by director or principal. Responsible for administrative tasks such as producing documents and reporting, collecting and preparing information for meetings, composing correspondence and maintaining contact lists. Maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with all employees. Provides support with coordinating and managing all activities related to corporate events as required. Coordinates timesheets. Purchases gifts for delegations,/ special events, and education events. Creates posters, forms, presentations, etc. as needed. Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications




High School Diploma or equivalent of education and experience. Post secondary diploma in administration would be considered an asset 3-5 years of providing administrative support. Always maintain the highest level of confidentiality. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to use computer software including Microsoft Office.
