We are currently seeking a talented individual to join the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Secondary School team. St. Francis School provides a faith-based, Roman Catholic education within the public school system of Yukon Education. Our school sits on the traditional territory of the Kwanlin Dun First Nation and Ta'an Kwachan Council within the wilderness city of Whitehorse, Yukon. SFACS is a grade 8-12 school of approximately 460 students, serving a diverse cultural population. Our educational professionals facilitate academic excellence and model life-long learning. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:
Grade 12 graduation or equivalent;
Experience working with youth;
Experience assisting students with the activities of daily living such as communication, eating, and toileting;
Post-secondary training in Exceptionalities Worker Program, Special Education, Teacher Education, Early Childhood Education, Social Services or Medical Services would be an asset;
Experience working with students with special needs, who present as minimally-speaking would be an asset;
Experience working with students experiencing emotional dysregulation would be an asset.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:
Candidates should have and may be assessed on their: Interest in furthering learning and skill development in working with children with diverse abilities;
Ability to work effectively with students, teachers and parents;
Adaptability to cope with a wide variety of situations;
Ability to work as a member of a team;
Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills;
Flexibility to undertake a variety of assignments;
Ability to work with minimal supervision;
Willingness to work in a Catholic learning environment
