ABOUT YOU:
As the Telefundraiser, you are someone who can quickly build rapport over the phone and is comfortable directly asking people to donate to the cause. You promptly follow up on any outstanding inquiries and ensure a high level of customer service. You have keen initiative and if something isn't working, you look for a way to improve it.
ABOUT THIS ROLE:
Reporting to the Senior Director, Corporate Relations, this role will be crucial to encouraging donations to United Way British Columbia through our workplace campaigns. Duties include following up with lapsed donors, responding to inquiries, and tracking results in our customer database. You will also be responsible for making other staff aware of any action items that result from this.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Calls lapsed donors to encourage giving for the 2025 United Way Campaign
Provides a high level of customer service and fosters positive donor relationships
Responds to inquiries based on script provided
Tracks the outcomes of all calls made: number of calls, donor inquiries, etc.
Tracks progress made against given list of required donor calls
Makes note of any further follow-up required by staff as a result of calls
Suggests and recommends ways to improve overall customer service or process
Performs general office duties and services as required
Performs other duties related to the qualifications and requirements of the job
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education
High school graduation
Experience
One year of previous sales, fundraising or telemarketing experience required
Skills
Ability to build rapport over the phone and deal with rejection without becoming discouraged
Ability to create a connection for the donor between giving and making an impact in the community
Must be a self-starter, use initiative and be able to work both independently and with a team
Must be comfortable using customer databases and have experience with data entry
Experience maintaining a high degree of client privacy
Experience with Microsoft Office suite of products
Proficient in English grammar, spelling and punctuation
Ability to compose simple, clear, and concise correspondence
Ability to build and maintain relationships with all staff
Knowledge of general office processes and procedures
Familiarity with the not-for-profit sector in the Lower Mainland is an asset

This is a bargaining unit role with CUPE Local 1760. This position is at pay grade 24 which is $29.04 hourly.
This is a temporary part-time role requiring 15-35 hours per week, scheduled to end on December 31, 2025. As this is a temporary position, it may be subject to extension or early conclusion.
Candidates must live within 80 KMs (commuting distance) from our office as this position is currently a hybrid role and office attendance is required.
