Reporting to the E&I Construction Manager and working in conjunction with Site Construction Coordinators / Supervisors, Field Engineers and Pre-commissioning and Commissioning Supervisors, the Telecom Construction Coordinator is accountable for the construction and quality assurance of the permanent Telecom facilities for the LNGC facility. The Telecom Construction Coordinator is a key member of the Construction Management Team which will work together to lead flawless project delivery with a focus on safety and meeting all internal/external targets.

  • Coordinate construction and testing of Telecom cabling infrastructure, networks, equipment and devices with contractors and subcontractors
  • Review detailed contractor installation work plans, method statements, schedules and pre-comm procedures
  • Perform installation inspections and assure adherence to quality guidelines, project specifications and the prime contract
  • Provide interface support between Telecom installation contractor and Materials Management, Quality Management, Field Engineering, and other site contractors
  • Assists with the development of the detailed integrated facility construction and pre-commissioning schedule
  • Validate and approve contractor daily time sheets and progress reports
  • Support the development of detailed execution strategies/plans for construction and pre-commissioning
  • Ensure construction and pre-commissioning ITRs (inspection and test records) are completed in a timely manner and promptly returned to the Turnover team
  • Ensure contractor compliance with site LOTO, safety and permitting requirements
  • Provide input to Electrical coordinators during development of the Notice of Energization prior to the start of energized pre-commissioning activities
  • Assists with the development of equipment SAT strategies as supported by the pre-commissioning lead
Basic Job Requirements
  • Superior working knowledge and proven leadership experience in Construction, Pre-commissioning, and Commissioning of Telecom Systems on mega projects
  • 10+ years of construction experience in Telecommunications systems used on large process facilities
  • Journeyman, Professional Engineer, Technologist or equivalent certification and competency to perform Telecom construction and testing oversight, inspections, quality assurance, and area authority activities
  • In depth working knowledge of Telecom cabling systems including structured cabling, equipment power distribution and Fibre Optic backbone installation and splicing. Experience with microduct fibre cable jetting is an asset
  • In depth working knowledge of Telecom Networks and Systems including LAN/WAN, Enterprise/Process Wireless, Integrated Security ACS/CCTV/Intrusion Detection, PAGA, Plant/Marine Radio, Telecom Towers, Process CCTV, NMS, Master Clock, RFID, AV, Hotline phones, Ship to Shore Link, Marine Berthing and Docking and Environmental Monitoring Systems
  • Experience working in Telecom engineering and design is considered an asset when in conjunction with the required construction experience
  • Excellent understanding of LOTO, site safety and permitting activities that are required during construction and pre-commissioning phases
  • Proficient in using Windows based software programs as well as web-based applications for document control, RFIs, completions and progress tracking
  • Team player: willing to continuously and proactively collaborate, share, and seek information and guidance
  • Understands construction and construction systems and be comfortable working in a field environment with daily conflict
  • Must act in a professional manner with a high level of ethics, and willing to make decisions in line with the project philosophy and execution plans
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Must be self-confident enough to seek assistance with difficult or complex issues
  • Must be project-driven, not ambition-driven, to ensure the success of the overall project
  • Must be self-aware: able to recognize when stress or fatigue is impacting personal performance and to take steps to mitigate
  • Strong coaching/mentoring skills are an asset
  • Must be open to work at a remote camp at the LNGC site near Kitimat, British Columbia
LNGC Rotational Schedule:
This position is open to local candidates on a 5X2 schedule or on a 14X7 rotational basis with charter hubs out of Calgary, Edmonton, Nanaimo, Vancouver, Kelowna, Prince George, Regina, Winnipeg, Hamilton, Halifax, and St. John\'s NL.
