The NorWest Co-op Teen Clinic Counsellor will provide onsite direct counselling support for NorWest Teen Clinics at variety of five outreach sites and Access NorWest. This position will also provide on-site direct support at Teen Clinics hosted by select partner organizations. The counsellor will provide indirect support to partner agencies in the form of education, consultation and resource development.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, or Master's Degree in related field.
Minimum two years' counselling experience with youth.
Knowledge of brief intervention therapy, solution-focused, and narrative therapy.
Knowledge of crisis intervention and harm reduction principles.
Experience in group facilitation and presentations.
Experience with statistical tracking and completing funder /government reporting.
Knowledge of youth mental health resources and community development principles and practices.
Knowledge and experience with diverse cultural groups, LGBT2SQ+ youth and gender issues.
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work well within an interdisciplinary team in a variety of settings.
Ability to work independently and demonstrated decision making abilities.
Experience with Electronic Medical Records (Accuro) an asset.
Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
Child/elder abuse and criminal records check required.
