Welcome to Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts. Founded in 1997 and conveniently located at Granville Island, we are one of Canada's oldest, private, award-winning culinary institutes offering professional diploma programs in the Culinary Arts and the Baking & Pastry Arts. Apart from our professional programs we also teach cooking classes to home chefs and wine certification programs featuring the prestigious Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) from London, England. We are also known for our popular on-site Blue Hat Bakery-Cafe which's frequented by locals and visitors alike.
We are looking to hire a
Teen Camp Chef Instructor
to assist us with our teen camp program that runs from July 10 to August 25. If you're interested in positive teamwork, growth, inspiration, and good food, this may be the right opportunity for you.
Position, Teen Camp Chef Instructor (Monday to Friday)
The main responsibilities include delivering instruction of relevant and current curriculum using a variety of teaching methods and standardized assessment tools in our student-focused kitchens.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Adhere to guidelines for lectures, demonstrations as per program outline
Provides detailed feedback on student performance
Ensure preparedness of required instructional supplies and tests for each days class
Instruct and enforce classroom clean up and sanitation procedures
Measures student understanding of course content in an objective fashion
Performs other duties as assigned
Flexibility in schedule required as business needs dictate
Applicants must possess the following:
Demonstrated recent work experience of at least 2 years of diverse industry experience in culinary arts. Culinary/line experience an asset, as well as experience working with minors
Strong communication skills, patience and ability to lead a dynamic group of people through daily kitchen and classroom operations in a supervisory role
Applicants will be required to undergo a criminal and vulnerable sector background check
A valid BC drivers license
Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada

Extra Assets applicants can possess:
Culinary Trade Qualification (Red Seal) or equivalent an asset
