About us The Western Standard is Canada\'s largest independent daily news publication with bureaus in Calgary, Victoria, Edmonton, Regina and Ottawa. Our Calgary headquarters are the beating heart of our company, housing senior editorial staff and the operations division which oversees sales, marketing, administration, customer service and finances. Position Overview The Technology & Marketing Manager is the manager-level employee or contractor responsible for overseeing the Information Technology & Marketing Department of the Western Standard. The Western Standard is a high-traffic online news and commentary platform that requires a high-level of technological performance and is sustained in large measure by revenues generated from memberships (subscriptions) and advertising. Reporting and Parameters The Technology & Marketing Manager reports directly to the Director of Operations. He or she will have their performance reviewed on an annual basis. Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Technology & Marketing Department of the Western Standard.
  • Oversee and aggressively drive the online sales of memberships (subscriptions).
  • Oversee the performance of clients advertisements on the Western Standard\xe2\x80\x99s platforms, and the company\xe2\x80\x99s advertisements on other platforms (like Facebook and Google).
  • Ensure that the Western Standard\xe2\x80\x99s websites, social media platforms, and other digital mediums are functioning at high-performance.
  • Provide graphic design support to the News, Opinion, Broadcast, and Operations divisions.
  • Meet with the Director of Operations and other Operations Division staff to develop short-and-long-term goals, and ensure compliance with the Western Standard\xe2\x80\x99s company values and editorial principles.
  • Provide technical support to colleagues in both the operations and editorial sides of the company.
  • Update and revise plans to improve the Western Standard\xe2\x80\x99s profitability and progress.
  • Ensure all goals based on the Western Standard\xe2\x80\x99s annual strategic plan are met.
  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of the Western Standard\xe2\x80\x99s readership and editorial metrics.
  • Maintain the integrity, truthfulness, and brand of the company.
Job Requirements
  • A bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or diploma in computer science, graphic design, marketing, or a related field.
  • Three to Six years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in digital marketing and digital production.
  • Understanding of business, marketing, digital marketing, sales, and technical issues.
  • Detailed understanding of Google Ads Manager and Facebook Business Manager.
  • Financial and operational knowledge of the industry.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Salary: $50,000.00-$70,000.00 per year Benefits:
