Position Summary:



The Technology Integration and Instructional Support Specialist serves as a vital bridge between instructional practice and educational technology across the division. Reporting jointly to the Director of Curriculum & Instruction and the Director of Technology Services, this full-time role supports both strategic technology integration and instructional innovation, ensuring tools and teaching practices enhance student learning, assessment, and engagement. The position also plays a strategic role in division-wide education planning and implementation of key instructional and technology initiatives.


The successful candidate will be a certified educator with a strong background in classroom teaching and educational technology. This role emphasizes collaboration, mentorship, and leadership in driving pedagogical excellence and effective use of digital tools in both face-to-face and virtual learning environments.


Core Responsibilities (General):



Act as a liaison between teachers, school leaders, and both central office departments to ensure instructional and technical needs are aligned and addressed. Provide hands-on and in-class support to build teacher capacity in using technology and evidence-based practices. Design and deliver professional learning (synchronous and asynchronous) on educational technologies and assessment practices. Create educator-friendly documentation, support materials, and online resources. Evaluate and recommend tools and platforms for classroom use, division-wide adoption, or deprecation. Support engagement with students and school communities, as appropriate, to foster a culture of digital citizenship and effective technology use across all learning environments. Stay current with trends in educational technology, curriculum implementation, and assessment strategies.

Responsibilities - Reporting to the Director of Curriculum & Instruction:

Support teachers in implementing the new curriculum using digital and physical resources. Promote formative assessment, visible learning strategies, and instructional practices aligned with the division's pedagogical framework. Guide teachers in differentiating instruction using technology and inclusive practices. Support schools in effectively using PowerTeacher Pro for gradebook setup, reporting, and communicating student achievement. Collaborate with Learning Services and specialized teams to support students with exceptional needs through appropriate technologies. Coordinate and lead the division-wide STEAM Games competition and other instructional innovation events.

Responsibilities - Reporting to the Director of Technology Services:

Support the effective rollout and integration of Chromebooks, Google Workspace for Education, and other key tools across classrooms. Provide coaching and technical mentorship for staff in using digital platforms (e.g. MyBlueprint, Mathletics, Raz-Kids, TextHelp, MathUP, Brisk, etc.). Collaborate with IT staff to ensure infrastructure and device support meet instructional goals. Develop and manage shared Google Drives, PD websites, and other tools that foster professional collaboration. Partner with the Supervisor of SIS to maintain consistency in PowerSchool and PowerTeacher Pro setup and usage across schools. Advise on the educational implications of new technologies, including hardware, software, and licensing needs.

Qualifications:

Required:



Alberta Teaching Certificate (or equivalent from another Canadian province). Demonstrated classroom teaching experience and successful integration of technology into instruction. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technology in accessible, educator-friendly ways. Confidence using digital learning tools (Google Workspace, PowerSchool, LMS platforms, etc.). Demonstrated growth mindset and a commitment to ongoing professional learning.

Assets:

Experience leading professional learning or mentoring colleagues. Familiarity with inclusive education practices and assistive technologies. * Experience working with central office teams or leading division-level initiatives.
