Our Team:

Our corporate office, located in downtown Toronto serves as the headquarters for the global Base Metals business, providing support to all our Base Metals operations. In Mississauga, Vale\xe2\x80\x99s Base Metals Technology Development team work to improve Vale\xe2\x80\x99s competitive edge and support its growth strategies by coming up with safer and more environmentally responsible technology.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Technology and Innovation student to join our Vale Base Metals Technology team in Toronto. This is an 8-month fixed term position.

As a Technology & Innovation CO-OP, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the coordination, planning and execution of an open innovation project on the topic of Sustainability (Canadian Pyrrhotite Processing Options) This will include core activities such as researching to make recommendations, analyzing data to extract answers and insights, sharing ideas, planning, and updating project timelines, coordinating activities, meeting with different stakeholders within the company as well as externally. You may also have the opportunity to lead and shape innovative initiatives that support the Research & Innovation mandate.

You might also support other activities on the Technology & Innovation team as required. This opportunity offers a unique chance to gain hands-on experience in the dynamic field of mining and innovation, working closely with industry experts and thought leaders.

About You

Education:

Enrolled in an undergraduate program (3rd or 4th year) in Engineering, Commerce, or other; or enrolled in a Graduate program (Engineering, Commerce, or other)

Requirements:

• There is no requirement to have completed prior work terms. Would be an asset, but not required.
• Problem solver with a positive attitude
• Strong organizational and communication skills (written and verbal)
• Proficiency with digital tools such as the MS Office Suite, Mural and others
• Proactive
• Ownership \xe2\x80\x93 taking responsibility for tasks and projects, and delivering them on time
• Curious \xe2\x80\x93 desire to learn and explore new ideas, topics, technologies and methodologies
• Open to learning new things (including outside your current area of expertise)
• Strong team player and ability to work in a cross-functional team
• Comfortable in a dynamic work environment
