Job Description

Position Summary:

The Acting for Camera and Voice program is a two-year diploma focused on giving acting student a broad range of performance and business skills to have a successful career in film, television, and voiceover. The Senior Technologist position within the program supports that by working with faculty and students in the classroom as a critical operator, knowledge resource, and trouble-shooter of equipment in television studios and other campus environments. The position reports to the Chair, School of Creative Arts and Animation.

Responsibilities:

Television and Studio Operations

  • Sets up three-camera shoots, audio, lighting, computer, and switcher for all in-studio classes
  • Operates the switcher board and teleprompter during shoots
  • Sets up green screen images on computer and prepares studio for green screen shoots
  • Repairs zoom and focus on cameras when required
  • Records scenes when needed
. Audio Studio Operations
  • Sets up live recording of audio in booth for single voice (includes microphone, stand, pop filter, headphones, music stand)
  • Engineers voice recordings
  • Books and sets up extra equipment for multi-voice recordings in studio
Location Shoot Operations
  • Works as crew during all shoot days as well as helping to load in and tear down
  • Edits footage into rough cuts and final versions
Video and Audio File Management
  • Transfers, files, and labels all recordings to program backup drives for availability to students and faculty
Knowledge Resource
  • Provides information on equipment to students and faculty when required
  • Coordinates and provides information to student technical assistants in program
Qualifications:

Education
  • Minimum diploma, degree or related credential in acting with a television/film focus, television production, or related field of study.
Experience
  • Minimum four (4) years in a technical support capacity or related in an educational or related setting.
Skills
  • Detailed knowledge of television studio equipment and operations, audio studio equipment at the hardware and software level, video editing platforms, digital file management techniques
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
