Our Engineering & Transportation Department is looking for a dedicated Technologist I to join the team.

Position Responsibilities

The Engineer/Technologist I essential technical support across the municipality's engineering functions, contributing to the efficient delivery of public infrastructure projects. This role involves performing foundational tasks such as basic surveying and drafting, preparing and processing permitting work on public land, and offering comprehensive support to senior project engineers throughout the project lifecycle. The incumbent will apply fundamental engineering principles and municipal standards, gaining practical experience in diverse areas from design assistance to project documentation, directly impacting the quality and sustainability of community services in Grande Prairie.


This particular recruitment will be focusing on administering permits and subsequent inspections of work on city right-of-way, documenting construction activities for public information, and ensuring that contractors are complying with traffic and environmental obligations.

Qualifications

Other Formal Education, Certification, Training or Designations: Applicant should be a Certified Engineering Technologist or Professional Engineer designation through ASET or APEGA.


Required for this job: Strong computer skills. Strong fluency in written and verbal communication. Ability to deal with public, contractors and utilities with tact and diplomacy. Training in surveying and computer assisted drafting.



Preferred for this job: PMP designation is an asset. CAMP designation is an asset.

Hours

The standard workweek consists of an average of 40 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.

Compensation

Salary range of $36.11 to $46.69 as per hour as per the Out-of-Scope Agreement.
