Technicien, Production Engineering

Job Description

As Technicien, Production Engineering, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining production information for ship repair projects. Working closely with engineering, planning, and production teams, you will model and produce accurate technical documentation to support efficient execution of repair and refit work. More specifically, you will:


Model ship structures and systems using ShipConstructor and generate production information for ship repair projects. Prepare technical data packages and supporting documents for the Planning and Estimation Departments. Identify missing or unclear information in specifications and proactively gather technical details to facilitate work. Perform onboard surveys, track modifications, and identify components and systems in the vessel. Support database maintenance and information logging for design and production records. Update 3D models and regenerate production information to reflect design changes, corrections, and as-built conditions. Communicate effectively with production teams, supervisors, and non-engineering personnel to ensure clear understanding of technical information. Participate in continuous improvement activities related to production information accuracy and process efficiency.

Qualifications




Diploma or degree in Naval Architecture or Mechanical Engineering. Two (2) to ten (10) years of relevant experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, or heavy industrial projects. Proficient in ShipConstructor and AutoCAD. Experience in ship repair or refit projects, a strong asset. Ability to perform field surveys, identify discrepancies, and validate information onboard vessels. Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail. Capable of working collaboratively across multiple departments. Bilingualism (English and French), preferred. Familiarity with production databases or ERP systems. Knowledge of shipyard processes and technical documentation. Successful completion of the investigation and security clearance process required by the federal government's Contract Security Program.
