The Innovation Maintenance team is responsible for maintaining safe and reliable operating facilities for the Innovation function, namely the Centre for Applied Research (CAR) and the Centre for Performance Applications (CPA). As a member of this team, you will be based at CPA and complete regulatory and critical systems inspections and maintenance as well as scheduled preventative and unscheduled reactive maintenance on building equipment and infrastructure. In addition, you will organize and provide oversight to external service providers, support expense and capital projects related to equipment replacement and upgrades, and provide ideas for continuous improvement.

You Will Use Your Expertise To:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve unplanned facility or equipment issues.
  • Provide ongoing electrical PM for facility and lab equipment.
  • Identify and suggest improvements and upgrades for aging facility infrastructure.
  • Complete and document planned maintenance activities for the CPA facility.
  • Complete and document regulatory and critical systems inspections and maintenance as per the required schedule.
  • Provide support to facility capital and expense projects to help meet safety, schedule and budget targets.
  • Address building occupant task requests.
  • Suggest and implement improvements to building and equipment-related procedures and processes.
  • Provide rotational after-hours, on-call support for both the CAR and CPA buildings.
What We Are Looking For:
  • Safety-first mindset demonstrated in all work activities.
  • Journeyman Electrician with valid Master Electrician ticket and 5+ years experience.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and proficiency in hands-on application of skills.
  • Ability to manage the work and safety performance of external contractors.
  • Collaborative involvement with facility improvement project teams.
  • Understanding and acceptance of the administrative requirements and duties of role (e.g. permits, procedures, safety documents, regulatory documentation).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A strong team player committed to supporting the team at either site as required.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Experience with computer managed maintenance software (CMMS) is an asset.
  • Exceptional organizational and housekeeping skills.
Additional Information:
  • Relocation will NOT be considered for this position
  • Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
  • This role requires up to 10% travel
  • Work will be conducted both indoors and outdoors in all seasons
  • Positions will include some lifting and climbing of ladders within various levels of the units
  • Overtime and callouts are a requirement of the role due to the 24 hour per day plant operation
  • In order to fulfil the duties of this role, the successful candidate will be required to wear respiratory protective equipment. Candidate must successfully pass a fit test and be physically able to wear a respirator
  • The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver\'s license
