:Wood is recruiting for a Technical Writer to join its Digital Consulting (DC) - Digital Operations business, focusing on Training & Competence Solutions. This opportunity is hybrid and can be based in Vancouver, BC.#LI-HybridThe RoleThis position is responsible for developing technical training materials, operational manuals, and maintenance procedures, ensuring technical accuracy and clarity. The Technical Writer will collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, and instructional designers to produce high-quality documentation that supports training initiatives and compliance requirements.Designing the future.   • Developing content for facility or process specific training
  • Developing content for operations manuals and operating and maintenance procedures using site specific information
  • Developing lesson, assessment, and training plans to supplement the manuals and procedures
  • Participating as a contributing member of a team, communicating effectively with these members on various tasks and projects as assigned
  • Following client-specific and department style guides and writing standards
  • Investigating and gathering of information required to complete assignments within deadlines
  • Interview the client or subject matter experts to obtain information
  • Ability to carry out onsite facility walkthroughs with subject matter experts
  • Communicating with subject matter experts to review content for technical accuracy
  • Reporting progress to Project Manager and updating progress trackers

  • Degree or Diploma in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in technical writing
  • Strong English reading and writing skills
  • Proficiency in MS Word
  • Ability to interpret process diagrams (PFDs, P&IDs), equipment drawings, and vendor documentation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with SMEs and clients
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Must live within reasonable commuting distance to Vancouver, BC
Desirable:
  • Technical Writing degree or certification
  • Experience with content development tools (Storyline, Captivate, etc.) and learning management systems (LMS)
  • Background in developing training materials for industrial applications
  • Ability to travel for short assignments using a personal vehicle in the Lower Mainland
  • Fluency in additional languages is an asset
