Job Description


We currently have a requirement for a public sector client looking for a Technical Writer. Please see below for the qualifications and requirements.The resource will perform tasks in support of the DAEME. The Technical Writer will require a comprehensive knowledge of Canadian, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and other allied, Ammunition and Explosives (A&E). The Technical Writer will be required to ensure all Technical Authority (TA) approved English transcripts are translated into an acceptable level of French in accordance with the Defence Termium and other Government of Canada (GOC) approved language tools. These tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Analyzing material, such as specifications (Technical Statement of Work/Requirement), notes, drawings, writing manuals, user guides and other documents to explain the requirement clearly and concisely;
  • Modifying, validating and compiling documents such as technical publications in general, specifications, equipment and system data lists, drawings etc.
  • Gathering information, analyzing the subject and the audience, and producing clear documentation;
  • Studying existing material and interviewing Stakeholders;
  • Creating accurate, complete and concise documentation to communicate the needs of the requirement;
  • Assimilating and conveying technical material in a concise, effective manner;
  • Following governmental publishing guidelines;
  • Reviewing documents, drawings and associated data for conformance to established standards;
  • Planning, researching and writing manuals, specifications and other non-journalistic articles;
  • Using word-processing, desk-top publishing and graphics software packages to produce final camera ready copies;
  • Translating English technical documentation to French and vice-versa.
Requirement:
  • The proposed resource must have a minimum of sixty (60) months experience, within the last one-hundred-and-twenty (120) months, preparing, modifying, and updating technical orders or other technical documentation.
  • The proposed resource must have a minimum of sixty (60) months experience, within the last one-hundred-and-twenty (120) months, translating technical orders or other technical documentation from English to French.
  • The proposed resource should have experience preparing, modifying, and updating technical orders or other technical documentation.
  • The proposed resource should have experience translating technical orders or other technical documentation
  • The proposed resource should have work experience in the area of ammunition and explosives or, weapons and weapon systems or, military munitions.
  • The proposed resource should have a certificate/qualification related to the field of Ammunition and Explosives. Any of Ammunition Technical Officer (ATO) (AEXN), Ammo Engineer (AEXO), Rank Qualification (RQ) 6 Ammunition Technician (Ammo Tech) or other DND approved alternatives.
