About Us: Leeway Marine and Leeway Vessel Management are a privately held company with operations in Eastern Canada, North and South Pacific regions. The company owns, manages and operates a fleet of offshore and inshore vessels in various sectors including: defence, fisheries and research and commercial survey.
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Ship Technical Superintendent to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the technical operations of our managed fleet, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and compliance with maritime regulations.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage and monitor the technical performance of vessels, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.- Conduct regular inspections, audits, and surveys to assess the condition of vessels and identify areas for improvement.- Collaborate with vessel management and crew to develop maintenance and repair plans, ensuring timely execution.- Liaise with external stakeholders, including classification societies, shipyards, and regulatory bodies, to ensure compliance and address technical issues.- Maintain accurate records and reports related to vessel performance, maintenance, and inspections.- Provide technical guidance and support to onboard engineers and crew members.- Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes affecting vessel operations.
Qualifications:- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field; or, STCW Class 1 Marine Engineer- Minimum 5 years of experience in a technical superintendent or similar role within the maritime industry.- Strong knowledge of maritime regulations, safety standards, and vessel maintenance practices.- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.- Proficiency in using technical management software and tools.
