Technical Specialist

Job Scope and Accountabilities:

The Technical Specialist will serve as support for the Food Programs team to ensure compliance and that all client expectations are met for all unaccredited custom and 2nd party programs. This opportunity includes working directly with the Food Program team, Auditors, Key Account Managers, Technical Team and Clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring reception of audit reports and performing technical reviews for all required programs, ensuring to meet client KPIs
  • Reviewing and approving Corrective Action Plans for programs requiring corrective action management in alignment with client requirements
  • Monitoring of the food recall inbox and completing investigations to ensure satisfactory closure of recalls as per CPO and client requirements
  • Assisting in new program development, program updates and training material creation
  • Participation in team meetings
  • Conducting Food Safety audits and witness audits, as required
  • Attending client meetings, as required
  • Other tasks, as assigned
Qualification and Experience Required:
  • BSc. in a relevant scientific field
  • Minimum of 5 years\' experience in Food Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and/or Food Safety Management Systems
  • Experience in a variety of food manufacturing fields or the ability to understand, learn and relate to a variety of industries and customer needs
  • Strong knowledge of Food Safety Regulations for Canada and the USA
  • Experience in auditing custom programs (a minimum of 2 years)
  • Computer proficiency and ability to learn new systems
  • Certification as Lead Auditor (preferred)
Other requirements:
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills in English (Spanish or French is considered an asset)
  • Proven problem solving capabilities and ability to think out-side the box
  • Self-motivated, team player with strong organizational skills
  • Have sound judgement and analytical skills
