Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto's subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Foundational Technology and Infrastructure, the Technical Solution Manager is responsible for performing Cloud Infrastructure and Data Centre design-build and leading teams performing the same. Cloud and Data Centre Infrastructure includes but is not limited to Private Clouds, Public Clouds, Hybrid Clouds, Infrastructure-as-Code, Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service and Software-as-a-Service.

What will I be doing?

Designs and builds foundational technology and infrastructure solutions at scale (e.g. storage, compute, networking, backup, Database, Private Clouds, Public Clouds, Hybrid Clouds, Infrastructure-as-Code, Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service and Software-as-a-Service). Collaborate with I&IT teams as a Solution Lead/Integrator to create and maintain Cloud and Data Centre Infrastructure architecture and detailed designs (conceptual, logical, integration and physical). Provides hands-on implementation or supports domain subject matter experts in validating designs for deployment, creating build documentation and other transition-to-operations artifacts. Works with the Cybersecurity team and ensures security resilience is designed and built into the Cloud Infrastructure solutions. Collaborate with I&IT teams to design and implement Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for the lifecycle of the Cloud Infrastructure and the overall solution stack. Assists stakeholders such as Solution Architects in designing solutions leveraging Cloud and Data Centre Infrastructure. Manages I&IT teams towards successful technical delivery, release, governance and validation of outcomes for assigned I&IT products. Provide technical leadership to virtual teams (greater than 15 resources) of vendor resources and internal technical experts responsible for delivering initiatives on assigned product roadmaps. Collaborates with I&IT teams and stakeholders to perform system capacity, performance, availability, and health management to meet business needs.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline - or a combination of education, training and progressive experience in solution delivery leadership positions deemed equivalent. Demonstrated years of related experience contributing to the success of midsize-to-large initiatives with above-average levels of complexity and business criticality Leadership, problem-solving, interpersonal, and oral/written/presentation skills Proficiency in working with Infrastructure as Code tools and CI/CD pipeline - Ansible and Terraform, Azure DevOps, GitHub Proficiency in designing and implementing solutions with Microsoft Azure IaaS and PaaS Proficiency in designing and implementing Cloud and Data Centre Infrastructure with high availability and disaster recovery capabilities Experience with the following: + Microsoft Hyper-V, SCVMM and VMware virtualization platforms
+ Microsoft SaaS platform - Office 365
+ Load balancers such as F5 LTM and GTM
+ Backup technologies such as Netbackup
+ Identity & access management such as AD, Azure AD and Okta
+ Storage systems - Fibre Channel SAN, Storage Array
+ Compute systems - HPE Synergy, Cisco UCS
+ Operating systems - Windows servers; Linux such as RedHat is an asset
+ Containerization - Kubernetes and Docker are assets
+ Disaster Recovery - HP Zerto and its implementation in multi-site Disaster Recovery
+ Microsoft SQL and multi site DR design and implementation
+ Oracle 19c, EXACC and Dataguard
Knowledge of networking such as LAN, WAN, Cloud networking, etc. Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification is an asset
