The Corporate Services Department - Information Technology Division is looking for a temporary full-time Technical Services Specialist for approximately one year.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, IT Infrastructure & Operations, you will join our highly skilled Technical Services team and work with all aspects of networking, including firewall security, as well as related infrastructure, VoIP, EntraID, Windows servers, and virtualization. You will create and maintain documentation, design and develop new solutions, conduct upgrades and lead networking and infrastructure projects. You will also assist the Client Services team in complex issues, mentor staff and liaise with internal and external contacts.
Requirements
You will be a seasoned team player with proven communication skills, and have a detail oriented and proactive approach to supporting the City's IT infrastructure, along with the ability to work independently. You thrive in a collaborative environment. Keeping current on technological trends and developments is a passion.
You have post-secondary education in a relevant Information Technology discipline such as security or network, and several years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience with firewalls, fibre/wired/wireless network administration, VMWare and Microsoft Servers/EntraID is required. Experience with storage, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, VoIP, and/or PowerShell would be advantageous. A valid class 5 BC Driver's License is also required.
Compensation
$50.13 to $59.23 per hour
(Pay Grade 28 - January 2024 rates)
Hours of Work
Required hours may consist of any 7 consecutive hours between 7:00am and 11:00pm, Monday to Friday, and may also include an occasional shift on weekends or evenings. The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) in approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
Additional Information
For temporary full-time positions of eight (8) months or longer, a City employee who is successful on the posting will have the right to revert to their former position.
