Position: Electrical Engineering Technologist - Network Services (Technical Resources Technologist, Entry)

Division: Operations, Electricity Division

Location: Vegreville, AB

Duration: 12 months

Rate: Starting wage is $31.98 per hour

This job class is responsible for providing technical support to various departments within planning, design and/or field operations functions. This position will assist with the coordination, maintenance and monitoring of one or a variety of department management systems which may include: environmental, lab, operations, engineering, surveying and/or maintenance.

You will be working for the System Operations Network Services Team, which is responsible for building, operating, and maintaining IP networks used in the management of Alberta\'s electrical grid. In addition, the Network Services Team builds, operates, and maintains mission critical NMS, EMS and Compliance software tools relied upon by various internal groups.

What You Get to Do:

Under close supervision, employees perform entry level duties of a simple nature within their area of assigned duties.

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Assists with producing, editing, analyzing, and modeling data specific to the team function.
  • Assists with the preparation and submission of reports and/or analysis in an accurate and timely manner for monthly, quarterly, annual and other special reports as required by the team function, department or regulation.
  • Assists with gathering data and coordinating schedules for various audits.
  • Supports in the testing and field implementation of hardware and software.
  • Provides technical support and assistance that are required specific to or outside of the team function or department.
  • Participates in project planning meetings and acts as liaison with internal groups.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a post-secondary technology diploma in a related discipline from a recognized Canadian institute of technology.
  • May be required to attain registration with A.S.E.T.
  • 0-2 years of related experience.
  • Valid drivers license is an asset
