Job summary
We are looking for an experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) who will help to drive the ongoing evolution of AbeBook's technology architecture and delivery processes. In this role, you will work closely across our engineering, product, UXD, and customer service teams to develop the underlying capabilities to empower our sellers to scale, and provide our buyers with an exceptional customer experience. You will influence technology and architecture choices and become the central point of contact across the technology and business teams responsible for delivering our ongoing roadmap. The ideal candidate is agile enough to thrive in an environment that blends a responsibility for not only envisioning creative solutions, but leverages a data-driven approach to validate these ideas.

Key job responsibilities
As an experienced TPM you will have an opportunity to learn and navigate among dozens of products and technologies that make up the AbeBooks marketplace. As you become familiar with the complexity of the business domain, and you will have an opportunityto dive deep into our core technology stack and drive the strategic evolution required to scale the business. You will have the opportunity to work with Amazon teams and Amazon technologies (especially AWS) as we take advantage of the capabilities of our parent company. Last but not the least, you will be surrounded by smart and approachable colleagues, while living in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
-5+ years of experience in a TPM or software development role
  • Knowledge of modern full stack technologies and trends
  • Experience with multi-tier, large scale technology architectures
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previously held a leadership role for several complete large-scale projects
  • Experience with Agile (SCRUM, RUP, XP), OO modeling, web services, and payment processing systems
  • Experience mentoring and training the engineering community on complex technical issues
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, and a consideration for scale, efficiency and performance
  • Good understanding of the AWS ecosystem
