Technical Market Specialist (2302279) - Calgary, AB Where the Chemistry Happens\xe2\x80\xa6 As the Technical Market Specialist \xe2\x80\x93 Seed Solutions (TMS-SS) you will assume leadership and responsibility for all technical elements (labels, technical editing, product use direction, training materials, recommendations, and technical positioning) of assigned products. You will be accountable to the sales and marketing functions for the technical support of assigned products. The goal is to maintain the technical integrity and positioning of product lines, as well as increase net income via key operating objectives of increasing sales and reducing liability costs. As TMS-SS you are also responsible for leading technical research and demonstration projects that demonstrate the technical benefits of the BASF product lines for internal and external customers. Results of the research and demonstration programs must be summarized and integrated into training, selling and technical support output distributed to both internal and external customers. The TMS-SS will provide marketing support by direct interaction with specific marketing crop group units in the development and implementation of its annual business plans. Support of the sales organization to achieve income objectives occurs primarily via interaction with resourcing of the Technical Service Representatives. The Technical Market Specialist position is tasked with providing the key guidance, leadership, and training to make the BASF product lines successful and beneficial.   • Manage GIA recommendations for research projects in western Canada. Manage GIA budget and coordinate testing with key researchers/influencers while providing them technical information.
  • Provide input into research targets globally, regionally and locally for near commercial and commercial products.
  • Design large scale testing protocols in conjunction with Brand Managers that support product positioning.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for each KIP. These plans often relate to joint research projects, graduate student projects etc.
  • Provide technical expertise to long term strategic planning (Molecule Team, Growth Plan Team), particularly as it relates to proprietary technology versus competitor technology.
  • Participate on Global project teams that set long term product development strategy.
  • Use generated field and university research data to develop tools that support marketing and sales tactics and facilitate the technical transfer of information.
  • Provide technical training and direction for Technical Service Representatives and technical support for product inquiries through a variety of presentation tools.
  • Participate on Global project teams that set long term product development strategy and serve on academic or trade/grower association boards or committees.
Qualifications

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You\xe2\x80\xa6
  • M.Sc. in Agriculture/Biology with emphasis on plant pathology or related discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years relative field experience, with a demonstrated ability to recommend product positioning based on evaluating data and customer needs.
  • Experience in working with growers, distribution/retail, universities, or consultants would be beneficial.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate with audiences of varying backgrounds. Must be able to relate with the key influencer contacts on market issues and develop joint strategies or processes with customers.
  • Ability to share knowledge and expertise with others and to actively participate on teams to solve problems or achieve team goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to a wide variety of people and groups not reporting directly to the position.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are also essential.
  • Skilled at development and delivery of presentations to both external and internal customers.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficient in various software programs, including PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
  • Key influencer relationships are well developed such that partnerships on research projects, training curriculum development and implementation are fostered.
