As Technical Lead you steer a team of programmers towards a technical vision, produce high-quality code, and define best practices in your field of expertise. With a responsibility to help programmers develop their skills, you coach and mentor them, empowering them to innovate and perform at their best. You\'re accountable for the technological choices and performance of the systems you specialize in, and developers on your project turn to you for information and direction.

Snowdrop is a powerful game engine that enables Ubisoft content creators to set their creative minds free. Fast and flexible, Snowdrop gives developers innovative tools designed from the ground up for creating the unknown. This engine will power upcoming titles like Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, the Star Wars Project, and the Splinter Cell remake.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee technical mandates from technical directors and technical architects
  • Be a mentor and reference for team members for technical issues in your field
  • Work as a senior programmer and help program high-risk elements
  • Be proactive in suggesting enhancements and technological choices
  • Assess performance and optimize systems on a regular basis
  • Resolve the most complex technical issues
  • Work with technical directors from other working units to ensure the efficiency of the systems that are used by other teams
  • Propose new tools, systems, and architecture to drive innovation in our game engines
  • Analyze innovations and features from external tools and other Ubisoft pipelines to determine where they can be applied to our own pipelines
Qualifications

You love finding the most efficient solutions to the hardest programming problems, and your teammates see you as a resource and mentor in your field. You build relationships with other studios, and look for ways to collaborate for the good of the product and the team. Besides the above, we are looking for someone aligned with our studio\'s core values and the following skills and experience:
  • 10 years\' experience in software programming. Experience with the game industry, engines, and tools would be a bonus.
  • Good understanding of software engineering principles, e.g. object oriented programming, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of C++ programming and debugging
Nice to have
  • Knowledge of C/C#
  • Solid proficiency in optimization techniques
  • Strong understanding of multithreaded/parallel programming
  • Strong understanding of software development processes
  • Excellent understanding of CPU and GPU bottlenecks
