: Technical Illustration Specialist

9 Napoleon Road, Barrie (hybrid)

Job Purpose:

Create graphical content to explain processes and procedures in technical communications, such as assembly instructions, product manuals, installation instructions, service manuals, bulletins, websites, work instructions, and training guides. Graphical content includes illustrations, images, exploded views, and animations, and must convey concepts using minimal text and facilitate rapid and accurate interpretation.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

:

Create sketches, illustrations, images, renderings, and animations for use in assembly instructions, product manuals, installation instructions, labels, service manuals, work instructions, training guides, and compliance and certification documents. Work with assigned technical writer to complete, clear, and accurate manuals, leaflets, and Technical marketing support information for assigned products and accessories. Maintain thorough understanding of company product, attributes, and critical features to develop graphical representations. Update graphical content based on feedback from engineering and process runs. Participate in physical audits to validate accuracy and completeness of technical documents (EPR's, process runs, PPET, etc.). Collaborate with technical writers to ensure that illustrations and other visual aids are clear and stylistically harmonious within the context of the deliverables. Contribute graphical assets to R&D ISO documents, training materials, forms, templates, standard operating procedures, and engineering standards across all product divisions. Collaborate with other departments including Marketing, Sales, Customer Experience, and Napoleon Education to provide graphical content to be used with brochures, blogs, bulletins, and service part catalogues. Identify opportunities for improvement and develop best practices and standard operating procedures for instructional design. Research innovative technical communication mediums, recommending appropriate strategies and materials while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, accessibility legislation, copyright legislation, and industry standards. Work with suppliers to ensure accuracy of content prior to printing. Administer surveys to collect feedback on graphical assets' effectiveness in conveying intended meaning. Maintain style guides and symbols library.

Education and Experience:



Minimum Education: High School Diploma; Post-secondary/College Diploma or University Degree preferred.

Minimum Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in related industry, specifically using CAD software. Experience creating illustrations for technical manuals or literature would be considered an asset.

Certifications Required: Technical Communication certificate is considered an asset.

Computer Software Requirement: Must be experienced in Adobe Creative Suite CS4 or higher (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat Pro), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook). SolidWorks Composer, NiceLabel Pro, and Labelview
