THE JOB

Noel Asmar Group is looking for a detail oriented Technical Designer that will bring their expertise to ensure consistency of fit, maintain high quality standards while keeping cost down and understanding our customer to maintain our reputation for premium fitting garments. The ideal candidate will have a great sense of style, understands the Noel Asmar client and can balance technical design with business goals while demonstrating great teamwork. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills combined with problem solving abilities is essential.

This position is primarily responsible for ensuring quality fit, desired appearance, and that company quality standards are met and maintained. You will manage all aspects of technical garment specification developments and technical fit comments as appropriate by Brand. You will work closely with the Founder to enhance and evolve processes and procedures as business evolves; broadening technical knowledge and expertise, while continually striving to elevate the quality of the product.

RESPONSIBILITIES

You will

  • Develop complete Tech Packs with detailed specifications, fabrications, and technical drawings.
  • Maintain data integrity in the Backbone PLM System.
  • Review Lab Dips and build out the color palette in the PLM System.
  • Develop and manage the fit and specifications for samples.
  • Maintain the Measure & Grade manuals for local and offshore vendors to follow when creating samples.
  • Manage sizing chart and keep Sales & Marketing up to date.
  • Inspect and approve shipment samples.
  • Track samples (prototype, pre-production & production) & sample costing / expenses with clear reporting by division to the Finance department.
  • Review TOP\xe2\x80\x99s and send TOP/ QC comments to the factory prior to the bulk goods being shipped.
  • Approve fit, and construction of garments within the development and production timelines, under the direction of Creative Director. Issues standard grade rules in preparation for bulk production.
  • Order and prepare sample for photoshoots from factories.
  • Ensure all BOM\xe2\x80\x99s, spec pages and grading is updated through-out the fit process.
  • Make appropriate recommendations in collaboration with peer teams on matters pertaining to specs, pattern, construction methods and techniques to improve fit, balance, and overall quality of the garment.
  • Analyze Wear test results for opportunities to make meaningful product enhancements, including fit, grading and pattern adjustments as necessary.
  • Manage and organize our pattern files and issue to vendors for production as needed.
  • Own quality assurance.
  • Confirm with factory any materials used are free of Prop 65 Chemicals.
  • Considers sustainability throughout the design process.
  • Lead competitive fit/construction analysis and apply learning.
  • Drive block pattern development and approvals with factories as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS

You have:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Fashion or equivalent work experience
  • 5 - 7 years technical experience, gained while working within the clothing apparel industry
  • Practical experience in patternmaking, grading and garment construction for bulk production
  • Knowledge of yarns, knitting machinery, stitches, fabric tension and trims
  • Experience with engineering prints is helpful
  • Knowledge of production/manufacturing processes and capabilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Illustrator and familiar with similar computer- aided sketching program, CAD operating systems & MS Office Suite, Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop CS
  • Strong organizational and time management skills necessary to maintain calendar milestones and deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
