About the job

As part of our team, you will:
lead operational support for Public Safety Grade (PSG) P25 voice radio services for frontline officers and staff transitioning to the Public Safety Radio Network (PSRN)
monitor and triage requests for service and support from various stakeholders
travel to various locations to troubleshoot, remediate, and restore services for client users
provide technical support for radio technology and mobile communications
install, configure, and maintain radio equipment, providing encryption services and support
identify and resolve radio equipment performance issues, and provide technical expertise
provide hands-on training and technical advice to client users on radio equipment capabilities, limitations, and options
Note:
This position requires travel throughout Southeastern Ontario.
What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements
You have a valid class "G" Ontario driver's license to travel throughout the province.
Radio technology expertise:
You have:
knowledge of P25 radio technology, sub-systems and subscriber equipment components and their inter-relationship, including mobile, portable and base radios and repeaters, dispatch consoles, communications consoles and Provincial Communications Centres (PCCs) voice recording systems
knowledge of encryption services in P25 radio networks including Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and Data Encryption Standard (DES) algorithms
the ability to install, configure, and maintain radio equipment, and perform field repairs or replacements
experience conducting tests and inspections to determine faults or failures in mobile, portable, and fixed radio subscriber equipment
the ability to operate field testing equipment (i.e. service analyzers, signal generators, VSWR testers, etc.) and encryption tools (i.e. KVL, etc.)
Analytical and problem-solving skills:
You can:
identify root causes and resolve technical malfunctions
assess the technical performance and capacity of radio components, including electrical, mechanical and software components
make recommendations on the need for and feasibility of expansion, renovation, or replacement of radio systems
analyze and document field activities and prepare periodic reports
conduct tests and inspections to determine faults or failures in radio equipment
Communication skills:
You have:
oral communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with all levels of staff, both internal and external
the ability to explain the nature of problems and the work to be performed
the ability to present technical information to non-technical users
written communication skills to document technical issues and fieldwork performed
