Overview:
We are looking for recent graduates who have completed an computer science, physics, mathematics, engineering programs. Prior work experience in Machine Learning, and NLP, deep learning, blockchain or R&D environment is an asset.
As a Technical Developer, under the general guidance of a research leader, you will develop research objectives and proposals, play a lead role in relation to a specific project/s or part of a broader project, conduct individual and/or collaborative research, contribute to the development of new research methods, identify sources of funding, and contribute to the securing of funds for research, including drafting grant proposals and planning for future proposals. You will write up research work for publication, individually or in collaboration with colleagues, and disseminate the results via peer reviewed journal publications and presentation at conferences. You will join external networks to share information and ideas, inform the development of research objectives and to identify potential sources of funding.
You will collaborate with colleagues on the development of knowledge exchange activities by, for example, participating in initiatives which establish research links with industry and influence public policy and the professions. To be considered for the role, you will be educated to a minimum of Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline or have significant relevant experience in addition to a relevant degree, e.g. in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or Computer Science. You will have experience in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, generative deep learning, dynamical system theory, uncertainty quantification. You will have the ability to develop and deliver research activities, and work on collaborative projects involving both industry and academia. You will be ambitious and enthusiastic about cross-disciplinary working and be able to work independently and as part of a team, supporting others when required. You will have good interpersonal and communication skills, including an ability to listen, engage and persuade, and to present complex information in an accessible way to a range of audiences. You will have the ability to work well under pressure and be driven to deliver results.
Duties:
To undertake a specific research project/s under the general guidance of a research leader; to establish a personal research portfolio and plan research proposals, with assistance from senior colleagues as required; to engage where required in relevant research and development and knowledge exchange activities; and input to administrative activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- As part of a wider research group or program, develop research objectives and proposals for own or joint research and play a lead role in relation to a specific project/s or part of a broader project, with guidance from senior colleagues as required.
- Develop the required activities within sponsored research projects in order to achieve the project objectives.
- Plan and manage own workload, with guidance from colleagues as required.
- Conduct individual and/or collaborative research, including determining appropriate research methods and contributing to the development of new research methods.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure that research advances with academic and industrial partners
- Attend weekly conference calls with R&D team
- Attend weekly mentoring session with supervisor
- Collaborate with the engineering team to design and launch new features
- Other responsibilities may be assigned.
Requirements:
- Hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, applied mathematics, engineering, or in a related quantitative field, and have a minimum of 3 years of professional experience.
- Sufficient breadth or depth of knowledge in the relevant discipline/s to contribute to research programs and to the development of research activities.
- Research experience in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, generative deep learning, dynamical system theory, uncertainty quantification, blockchain.
- General knowledge of blockchain applications
- General knowledge of NLP, deep learning (RCNN, LSTM, and Transformers) and machine learning
- General knowledge of explainable AI
- General knowledge of space applications would be an asset
- Experience in writing clean, efficient code following Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and coding best practices, with a proven ability to navigate and contribute to complex codebases.
- Demonstrated experience working with machine learning models in computer vision and NLP, showcasing the ability to tackle complex, interdisciplinary problems through innovative ML solutions.
- Strong programming skills with python, spark, openai, ADA models, RAG models or the like
- Have experience working on early-stage products that require rapid iteration and experimentation.
- Excellent collaboration and team building skills.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to create and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, and design documents.
- Ability to understand various product functions in relatively limited time.
