Position Overview:



The Technician Designer is responsible for the drafting design processes of residential, commercial, industrial and institutional buildings after a disastrous incident. The role supports the team that responds to the needs of the Project Managers assigned to the project on site and in the office environment.

Key Responsibilities:



Develop structural design and drafting of detailed drawings for restoration of damaged structures using sketches obtained on-site using Autodesk Revit. Obtain architectural and structural measurements and prepare rough sketches while on site. Using strong proficiency of Building Code parts 3, 4 & 9. Research failure modes and code requirements as required. Prepare all necessary reporting and permit drawing generation outlining all restoration/renovation work. Ensuring compliance with industry standards and company expectations. Review, validate and provide feedback on drawings created by other team members to ensure quality and consistency. Function in a defined professional capacity with clients, contractors, building owners, and building officials. Manage time to consistently meet strict deadlines. Demonstrated strength in taking initiative and managing tasks independently, while contributing effectively to multi-disciplinary teams on large, complex assignments. Practice proper safety protocols and supplied PPE when applicable (on sites). Request feedback and act on the opportunities to develop and grow skills to reach the organizational progression path. Address work-related concerns promptly with superiors and accept support for improvement where necessary. Engage in continuing professional development program(s) and course(s) to stay updated and augment professional knowledge and competency. Foster a positive and productive work environment, ensuring clear communication and alliance across the team(s). Take appropriate steps to advance through the stages of progression as detailed in the EFE Standards and Procedures for the role. Continuously monitor and assess personal and departmental processes and procedures; identify areas for improvement and suggest solutions to enhance efficiency within the technical division.

Administrative Duties:



Accurate and timely logging of billable hours with project numbers is essential. Ensure all projects are completed expertly and as scheduled and communications are forthcoming to all involved parties.

General:

Qualifications:



Education:

College 2- or 3-year certificate in a Structural Architectural field from a recognized educational institute.

Certified

Experience:

A minimum of 5 years of direct experience in structural design, with specific expertise in wood frame construction.

Skills & Knowledge:

Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and CAD software, robust knowledge of the Ontario Building Code (Parts 3,4, &9), strong technical acumen and ability to oversee assigned projects, and proven ability to work within a team and as well, work independently with minimal to no supervision.

Licensing & Certifications:

Must possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and access to a properly insured vehicle.

Communications Skills:

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to both internal and external stakeholders.

Work Location:

Office based in Burlington, Ontario and site visits as required.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
