Position Overview:



We are seeking a Technical Assistant to join our Generation Design Department. Under limited supervision of a Professional

Engineer or Senior Technical Support staff, you will prepare, modify, archive and work with engineering drawings and 3D modelling

for turbines & generator equipment, cranes & hoists, and auxiliary systems for hydraulic generating stations.


Responsibilities:


Provide drafting expertise to the department and be an expert in drafting and drawing/document management processes. Prepare and check mechanical 3D solid models using Autodesk inventor. Prepare, check and issue mechanical 2D engineering drawings using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD. Prepare design drawings for Hydro and Thermal Generating Station systems from marked-up drawings, notes, sketches, or


information supplied.

Prepare drawings utilizing information from a previously completed design. Review drafting work completed by others including the drafting done by external parties. Release, modify, issue, archive and distribute drawings and technical documents per established procedures. Adhere and ensure the adherence of others to drafting processes, procedures, and standards & resolve complex issues

related to EDMS, and AutoCAD.


Train drafting staff. Develop new and update existing departmental drafting standards and procedures. Make occasional field trips to assemble design information and to ensure conformance with designs. Visit Manufacturer's shops to inspect and check mechanical components and equipment during manufacturing.

Qualifications:


A two-year diploma from a college of recognized standing in Mechanical Engineering Technology, plus formal

education/training in three dimensional drafting and two years of directly related drafting experience.

OR
Grade 12 education plus one year of formal education (certificate course) in Manufacturing CAD / CAD Technician or

equivalent and three years of directly related drafting experience.
Demonstrated ability to create 3D models of mechanical components/systems using Autodesk Inventor. Demonstrated ability to create 2D drawings of mechanical components from scratch and/or from 3D models. Knowledge of AutoCAD drafting 2D software. Working knowledge of document management systems and various software and hardware related to drawing production and


management.

Demonstrated ability in the assembly and interpretation of technical data.

Demonstrated initiative and ability to carry out projects to successful completion on schedule, with minimum supervision. Capable of training junior personnel and communicating effectively with others. Required to travel by all modes of transportation i.e. air, land and water. Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 province of Manitoba Driver's Licence.

Salary Range



Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $31.94-$44.18 Hourly,

$61,202.96-$84,652.88 Annually.
