As a Technical Assistant you will be responsible for determining project needs, arranging meetings with both internal and external groups to discuss project needs and requirements, the most appropriate course of action to accomplish the work required and ensuring the successful completion of the work required. Primary duties include:Assist in the completion and oversight of specific projects related to Calgary Transit buildings, building systems, and fixed equipment. Monitor the condition of front-line assets and track service requests related to assets that have been damaged, broken, or vandalized including creation of Property Damage Occurrence Reports, EAM work orders for inspections/repairs, confirming completion of work orders/repairs and ensuring accurate invoicing with adequate documentation for insurance claims recovery. Maintain and update the records of all Calgary Transit Building Systems assets associated with existing bus storage garages, Light Rail Transit (LRT) storage facilities, administration buildings, LRT stations & platforms, parking lots, substations, LRT tunnels, and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) infrastructure. Manage space planning requirements for all Calgary Transit facilities by providing support for office layout tracking, redesigns/staffing relocations, and coordination of furniture procurement and installation requirements. Assist with scheduling annual inspections and preventative maintenance including the creation work orders, progress tracking and monitoring, reviewing reports and implementation of work required for reported deficiencies related to annual compliance. Provide technical support to improve, organize, and maintain the existing records management system/library including blueprints, electronic prints, and operations and maintenance manuals. Create remedy tickets for IT related functions, telecommunications support, computer installations and disconnects including communications cabling. Arrange meetings with both internal and external groups to discuss procedures, timelines, safety requirements, environmental regulations, and training. Provide administrative support generating requisitions, purchase orders and processing invoices for accounts payable. Serve as a virtual requester for Financial Supply Chain Management (FSCM) and Human Capital Management (HCM) using the PeopleSoft programs.

Qualifications

A completed Journeyperson Certificate as a Millwright, Plumber Gas Fitter, Electrician or Carpenter OR a current valid certificate that incorporates heating/cooling controls in building maintenance. At least 3 years of applicable experience in the buildings trades or heating/cooling controls related to building maintenance. A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits, and no current suspensions or charges pending. The ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit. Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) and Financial Supply Chain Management (FSCM), AutoCAD, AV equipment, and/or basic knowledge of social media would be considered assets. The ability to build positive relationships with team members and customers; and strong problem solving and decision-making skills. You are flexible and demonstrate the ability to provide expert advice and guidance to customers.

work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.
