The Emergency Health I&IT Solutions & Technology Management Branch at Ministry of Health (MOH)
The Emergency Health I&IT Solutions & Technology Management Branch (EHSTMB) delivers a wide range of mission and business critical solutions to enable business delivery and transformations. They deliver solutions for partners, primarily the Emergency Health Services Division, running 911 land ambulance communication services. In addition, they manage and support application and telecommunication solutions, GIS and data services as well as Security Operations, Disaster Recovery planning, and IT Portfolio and Technology Management. The branch develops and maintains mobile applications and data exchange services (including real-time dashboards) for use by various client organizations including 911 Dispatch Centers, Paramedic Services, Fire and others.

As part of our team, you will:
provide hands-on, day-to-day operational support across all IT services and collaborate with cross-functional teams to complete technical tasks
provide Tier 1, 2, and 3 technical troubleshooting and problem-solving support to business units and colleagues
administer and manage security and encryption programs, policies, and procedures in liaison with partners, vendors, users, and clients
support corporate IT initiatives by offering technical expertise and assistance
review operational inefficiencies and systemic problems, research potential solutions, and recommend new technologies
monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot complex technologies including Ethernet switches, routers, remote access (SSL/IPSec VPN), WAN compression devices, site-to-site VPNs, firewalls, SD-WAN, Public Safety Radio equipment, and emerging cloud-based network solutions

Mandatory requirements
You have:
a valid class G Ontario Driver's Licence to travel throughout the province
Basic CPR and First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain such certification
Additional requirements
You can work rotating shifts in a 24/7 operational environment, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Technical knowledge
You have knowledge of:
current and emerging technologies, including server and desktop operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, VPN hardware/software, firewalls, and network communication protocols
network architecture and topology, including physical and virtual servers, backup software, databases, and diagnostic tools for complex technical issues
configuration and maintenance of networking equipment such as routers, firewalls, and switches using NX-OS, FXOS, and CAT-OS
systems development methodologies, technical models, protocols, IEEE standards, and principles of application/network failover redundancy
physical network interfaces such as Fiber, Twinax, Copper, and emerging cabling and connector technologies
end-user licensing agreements to fulfill service obligations
Analytical and problem-solving skills
You can:
diagnose and resolve technical issues by identifying root causes and recommending solutions (e.g., application updates, hardware/software reconfigurations)
troubleshoot connectivity issues using traffic flow, packet inspection, and event logging techniques
use scripting tools and programming languages to build automated solutions that update and collect data across large-scale systems
Communication and interpersonal skills
You can:
present technical and strategic information to senior management
interact with end users and external vendors
prepare discussion papers, briefing notes, and recommendations for hardware, software, and network enhancements (e.g., upgrades, new features/services)
write technical documentation for applications, networks, and operating procedures (e.g., backup and disaster recovery, deployments, installation)
explain technical solutions/concepts to non-technical staff and senior leadership
work both independently and within a team environment
Project management and organizational skills
You can:
apply project management methodologies and techniques to develop, design, and implement project plans, budgets, and human resources
manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
provide guidance and support to team members while coordinating shifting priorities across departments
