About Arctic Canadian Diamond Company Arctic Canadian is a Canadian mining company and a significant producer and supplier of premium rough diamond assortments to the global market. The company owns and operates the Ekati Diamond Mine, located in Canada?s Northwest Territories. In addition to its mining and exploration operations, Arctic Canadian has offices in Canada and Belgium. Position Overview Reporting to the Superintendent Materials Management & Logistics, the Warehouse and Logistics Team Lead is responsible for daily warehouse & logistics activities, which includes the direction of warehouse & logistics employees to ensure that all job tasks are performed as effectively and efficiently as possible. The role is well suited for an engaging leader with a proven track record in leading warehousing and logistics operations. The ideal candidate has a passion for operational excellence & continuous improvement in the workplace. The successful candidate will be working two (2) weeks on two (2) weeks off rotation at the Ekati mine site. Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Direct all job tasks within the warehouse and logistics operation including but not limited to shipping, receiving, kitting, deliveries on site, coordination of loading and offloading freighters, busing and coordination of passenger baggage.
  • Relocate personnel to eliminate bottlenecks and increase productivity where necessary;
  • Responsible for the direction of workforce to meet workload requirements & achieve all expected functions before the end of shift;
  • Measure and address the effectiveness of employee performance and warehousing activities;
  • Correct in conjunction with the Shift Supervisor and resolve employee productivity and quality problems;
  • Resolve production and personnel issues during shift;
  • Determines and executes disciplinary action when appropriate;
  • Report problems to Warehouse Supervisor when necessary;
  • Ensure all Health and Safety guidelines are enforced and concerns are resolved;
  • Manages and improves material handling safety while aggressively eliminating unsafe processes;
  • Ensure excellent housekeeping standards and equipment maintenance;
  • Control, organize and oversee the warehouse layout to maximize use of space including storage and inventory;
  • 70% of the time will be spent out on the floor & in-field supervising and coaching the team;
  • 30% of the time will be allocated for administrative duties.
Education/Experience
  • Minimum 10 years? experience in a warehouse environment including operating a warehouse;
  • Minimum 3-5 years supervisory experience;
  • Ability to concentrate on tasks, make decisions and work calmly and effectively in a high-pressure deadline-oriented environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize and accurately prioritize work, be detail-oriented, understand when urgency is required and use good judgement in varied situations;
  • Emotional intelligence: Influences others, cooperative and collaborative, listens openly, negotiates and resolves disagreements;
  • Ability to use sound judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential information;
  • Experience with materials workflow management, logistics, inventory and warehousing functions;
  • Working knowledge of SAP and strong computer literacy. with willingness to learn new computer skills;
  • Knowledge of WHIMIS, which includes familiarity with chemical products, use, disposal and Safety Data Sheets applications;
  • Class 5 driver's license is required.
