Position summary:
EYET is looking for progressive and innovative individuals to lead the Ready for School Connects (RfSC) Project. The Team Leader, RfSC will work in consultation with the Manager, Family Supports, to develop, plan, implement and evaluate the school readiness program for newcomer families with children 3 - 6 years of age.
Key Responsibilities include:
Provide supervision to a small team of (5-6) seasonal contract staff, working in the Ready for School Connects program
Assist the Manager in the planning, development, design and implementation of all aspects of the assigned RfSC program site and activities.
Oversee staff in the preparation of daily activity plans for the parent component of the program, ensuring quality assurance of same.
Coordinate the scheduling of guest speakers and interpreters and ensure they are well-supported by EYET in the facilitation of planned activities.
Provide appropriate supervision to the staff team, ensuring that it maintains a safe, healthy on and off-site program environment for the children assigned to that team.
Ensure that the children's programming component contains age appropriate, culturally sensitive daily activities and promotes a positive and exciting learning atmosphere
Assist, the Manager when requested, in the preparation of written materials, forms and evaluation materials
Oversee staff preparation of daily healthy snacks for all participants and ensure that all food and/or drink is prepared in accordance with the menu and Toronto Public Health guidelines
Communicate regularly with participants, both children and parents and/or caregivers and ensure that parents are fully informed regarding policies, daily activities, special events and outings
Ensure that team members act as a resource to, and assist participants in identifying issues and concerns, providing referrals to an appropriate resource/community partner
Actively participate in maintaining excellent relations with the parent/guardians of children who are attending the RfSC program
Exchange information, resources and maintain good relations with other community organizations, including school staff teams
Curate and share community information and resources with parents
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum 2 year post-secondary diploma in ECE, Child and Youth Worker, Social Work, Health Promotion or a related field or the equivalent experience.
Minimum 2 years of work-related experience in the field of education, social work and/or recreation.
Previous employment experience supervising a small staff team preferred.
Experienced in community-based program/project design, development, implementation and evaluation.
Working knowledge of child development, parenting issues, and the integration of newcomer families is highly desirable.
Skilled in developing and implementing daily curriculum and work-plans
Experienced in group facilitation
Able to work independently and as a team member
Good command of both verbal and written English skills.
Current First Aid certification
Current Health Assessment Check and Immunization, including COVID-19
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 3 weeks
Pay: $24.90 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
