About Our OpportunityIf you are searching for a rewarding career opportunity, we have an exciting opportunity for you to explore as a Team Lead with the ENS Division of LSI.Reporting to the Regional Manager of Labour Market Program Operations, the Team Leader provides day- to-day supervisory and leadership support to staff in Sydney. This team of employees develop and administer funding agreements with and for citizens of Nova Scotia including unemployed individuals, employers, and community-based organizations. The funding agreements the division is responsible for are related to employment funding programs and services.The scope of the Team Leader role is to provide people leadership, ensure effective monitoring and oversight of funding agreements, and oversee the client service provided by the regional team. They are part of a two-person Team Leader team in their region that works collaboratively toward this end every day.Primary Accountabilities
  • Providing daily leadership, coaching, guidance, and mentoring. The role includes leading team members toward achievement of high performance.
  • Reviews and approves funding agreements and related agreement tasks daily, such as amendments, financial transactions, monitoring reports, and ensures agreements are compliant with LSI program policies and guidelines.
  • Responsible for conducting frequent team meetings with the regional team to ensure they understand new or existing program policies, procedures, and operational processes.
  • Develops and implements internal operational processes and monitors and resolves service delivery and performance issues with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, service delivery organizations, and clients. They frequently work directly with the public to resolve issues and they also work with and meet with service providers on a regular basis.
  • Oversees and supports the work of employees who may be working both in-office and remotely. An effective Team Leader is comfortable using a variety of communication platforms i.e. MS Teams, email, telephone as there is regular and ongoing interaction with employees throughout the day.
  • The Team Leaders must have strong time management skills and be able to multi-task and work with competing priorities.
Qualifications and ExperienceYou have a bachelor\'s degree in a related field with five (5) years of related experience; an equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Related experience is defined as experience administering (exercising decision-making authority in working with internal and/or external clients to determine eligibility for) programs and/or services and/or policies. You have strong communication and interpersonal skills and a proven track record of leading effective teams. You value, equity and inclusion and lead with a lens that supports and values a healthy workplace and demonstrate leadership competencies.The ideal candidate for Team Leader also has lived experience and/or experience working with and understanding the needs of various communities and individuals in Nova Scotia (e.g., African Nova Scotians, Persons with Disabilities, Youth, Older Worker, Indigenous, Francophone, Newcomers, and Immigrants) that are part of the labour market, and they understand the challenges they face in achieving full labour market integration.As the successful candidate, you will have demonstrated experience in:
  • Supervising and leading a team of employees
  • Reviewing and approving funding agreements (including financial transactions)
  • Overseeing the management of agreements
  • Analyzing, interpreting, and applying program policies and procedures
  • Developing operational processes and procedures
