Full-time, primarily Monday to Friday (flexibility required for evenings, weekends, and on-call rotation)

We currently have an opportunity for a Team Leader to join our Community Outreach Program. This position plays a key leadership role in providing direction, coordination, and support to staff and individuals receiving services.

Key Responsibilities



The Team Leader is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered services in alignment with Next Step's policies, Alberta Employment Standards, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements, and Human Rights legislation.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Leadership & Supervision



Provide direction, support, and mentorship to Community Disability Services Workers. Monitor staff performance to ensure quality service delivery and adherence to individual support plans. Plan and facilitate regular staff meetings, team check-ins, and ongoing communication. Support conflict resolution between staff and/or individuals in a fair, respectful, and confidential manner.

Community Program Coordination



Implement and monitor Individual Support Plans in collaboration with the Program Coordinator and Program Manager, families, and guardians. Ensure effective scheduling of staff to meet program and individual needs. Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to emergencies, staff shortages, or individual crises. Maintain accurate documentation, reports, MITC timesheets, and month-end reports in a timely manner.

Training & Development



Provide orientation, guidance, and hands-on training to new and existing staff. Promote a culture of continuous learning, professional development, and safety awareness.

Health, Safety & Compliance



Ensure compliance with all agency policies, procedures, Ethical Principles of the Alberta Council of Disability Services and legislative requirements under Alberta OHS and Employment Standards. Identify, assess, and address potential health and safety risks in the workplace. Foster a respectful, inclusive, and non-discriminatory work environment consistent with the Alberta Human Rights Act and ACDS Ethical Principles.

Individual Support



Provide direct care and personal support as required to ensure the well-being and safety of individuals served. Encourage community inclusion, self-advocacy, and meaningful participation in daily life.

Qualifications



Diploma or degree in Human Services (e.g., Disability Studies, Social Work, Psychology) or equivalent education and experience. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities; leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Strong knowledge of ACDS Ethical Principles and the Ethical Principles of the Alberta Council of Disability Services. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, solve problems, and make sound decisions under pressure. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License and acceptable driver's abstract. Current First Aid/CPR, Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, and Abuse Registry Check.
