Position Summary:
The Team Leader plays a pivotal role in supporting the Program Manager and the broader SADV team - including physician, nurses, allied health professionals, and support staff - by providing clinical leadership aligned with the organization's Vision, Mission, Values, and strategic objectives.
This role is responsible for the coordinator of patient care and program activities, ensuring delivery of trauma-informed, client-centered, culturally safe, and high-quality care to individuals impacted by sexual assault and/or domestic violence. The Team Leader actively fosters collaboration between patients, staff, and community stakeholders to ensure evidence-based care, a positive patient experience, and strong community partnerships.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical leadership, mentorship, guidance and support to SADV team members
  • Coordinate collaboration between nurses, social workers and community partners including stakeholders at the satellite site
  • Coordinate follow up care for patients at their appropriate site and providing acute care as required
  • Review daily staffing needs in collaboration with the program manager and staffing clerk
  • Create daily work assignments and adjust to facilitate acute care demands and community needs
  • Lead the orientation and onboarding of new team members.
  • Ensure new nurses meet requirements to attend Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Training
  • Complete chart reviews and provide feedback to leader
  • Chair SADV Team meetings to promote communication and program development
  • Provide leadership in vicarious trauma support for clinicians
  • Provide outreach and education to community partners including emergency departments, police, community agencies
  • Ensure compliance with data reporting requirements such as Network Data Reporting
  • Support clinicians with use of Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) database
  • Maintain and update program policies, procedures, medical directives and clinical documentation
  • Participate in leadership and commnunity of practice meetings; serve as liasion between the provincial network and the SADVTC
  • Work in collaboration with the Network Regional Clinical Practice Leader
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the manager
Qualifications:
Education:
  • Certificate of registration in good standing from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
  • Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Certification is required
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certificate is required.
  • Additional Leadership, Management, Conflict Resolution courses would be an asset
Experience:
  • 2-5 years current related experience required
  • Previous Team Leader experience an asset
  • Active participation in SADV/RCSCAN Care Team and other leadership teams an asset

  • Proficiency in utilization of the EMR

  • Demonstrated ongoing participation with the College of Nurses Reflective Practice Excellent attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard.
