This Community Peace Officer I - Team Lead position is responsible and accountable for providing direction, team leadership and organization over the activities of the Protective Services team in support of the vision, mission, and business plan of Alberta Health Services. The position is responsible and accountable for making unit-level decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for contributing to the achievement of the goals of Protective Services. The Team Lead for Protective Services will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. The Team Lead is also responsible for ensuring all team members develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of all position related policies and procedures. The Team Lead will train and mentor front line Protective Services staff. This is inclusive of, but not limited to, probationary and ongoing training in relation to routine operational requirements, crisis intervention and code response. The Team Lead also assumes a lead role in emergency response, including deployment of staff and resources and informing management and administration of emergent issues and untoward incidents.

Required Qualifications: Active Community Peace Officer appointment by Alberta Solicitor General. Alberta class 5 operator\xe2\x80\x99s license, or a provincial equivalent, with no more than four demerits and no charges or pending suspensions. Current Standard First Aid and Level C CPR. 2 years Management Experience.
Additional Required Qualifications:
A minimum of five (5) years of related experience and/or relevant education. Ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity (healthcare experience an asset). Public speaking capabilities. Proven multi-tasking and effective decision-making abilities in a fast paced, stressful environment. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered. Health Care experience is an asset.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in uniformed public servant roles or emergency services (military, forestry, park ranger, corrections, peace officer). Cadet program experience. Community involvement or volunteering (unpaid positions). Knowledge of or training in harm reduction, anti-racism, and Indigenous awareness. Fluent in more than one language is an asset. Comfortable/experienced with public speaking.
