Job Description

The Municipal District of Bonnyville No. 87 invites applications for an

Accounting Analyst. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and stewardship of the Municipality's treasury functions and supervision of financial accounting functions.

Duties & Responsibilities:



Provide leadership and direction to the department's utility accounts receivable, general account receivable, accounts payable and cash management personnel. Coach, mentor, and support staff in the provision of financial services Participate in the recruitment, discipline, and/or termination of direct reports. Manage the Investment Portfolio. Maintain the Chart of Accounts and the Job Cost software systems. Provide ongoing guidance, coaching, and problem resolution to corporate and department representatives involved with revenue and expenditure accounting processes. Reconcile relevant balance sheet accounts, including monthly bank accounts and investment statements. Prepare and reconcile monthly adjusting journal entries. Interpret and clarify policy to ensure consistent application throughout the M.D. to comply with the Public Sector Accounting Standards. Prepare detailed management reports and summary continuity schedules for cash flow analysis, receivables, deferred revenue, payables, and investments. Assist in the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets. Assist with yearend processes and working papers. Perform other related duties within the scope of the position as required.

Qualifications:



Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Professional designation, Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified Local Government Manager, etc. is desired. 3+ years management experience in the accounting field, preferably in a Municipal Government setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Knowledge of the Municipal Government Act and the Public Sector Accounting Standards as issued by the Public Sector Accounting Standards Board. Strong analytical skills to ensure accuracy; analyze problems and develop solutions with minimum supervision. Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical and interpersonal skills. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and MS Dynamics. Effective organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills to prioritize and complete tasks within restricted timelines while ensuring exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to maintain confidentiality, foster strong customer service practices and build effective working relationships.
