About Our Opportunity

The Finance Operations unit has an opening that will provide you the opportunity to apply your excellent financial expertise and client service skills in a setting that offers challenges, values, collaborative teamwork, and innovative thinking. Reporting to the Assistant Financial Coordinator, you are responsible for overseeing the complete end-to-end processing of accounts payable transactions, both manual and electronic, for DCS client and vendor payments.

Primary Accountabilities

Team Leads are responsible for monitoring the centralized email inbox and distributing the work among team members for processing, and following up to ensure work taken in is actioned. This will involve responding to queries, and other frequent communication with financial clerks, service delivery staff, clients and vendors.

In addition, you provide subject matter expertise and guidance to accounts payable staff for system issues and policy questions, as well as assistance with complex transactions and escalating customer situations. You are also responsible for training new staff and facilitating information sessions on accounts payable processes. You assist the financial clerks during absences or times of increased volumes.

Other duties will include contributing to the development of processes and procedures, aiding in ad hoc requests and investigations, assisting in compiling data and information which may be required for audit purposes, reconciliation and reporting relating to Purchase Cards. Other duties will be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience

To fulfill the expectations of this role, you have 5 years of related experience in a financial administration environment; or an acceptable equivalent of training and related experience. A post-secondary degree with a focus on accounting/finance or actively working toward a professional accounting designation would be considered assets.

Proficiency in ICM (Integrated Case Management) System (or equivalent case management systems) is essential. You have a demonstrated ability to analyze and reconcile accounts and determine causes of variances. You also have strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and good judgment to identify sensitive and/or urgent issues that require special handling. In addition, you can research, compile and evaluate information in a timely manner. An ability to work in a consultative manner with internal and external clients is also required.

Proficiency in the use of PC computer systems, internet-based applications, spreadsheets, and word-processing packages is essential. You are capable of effectively managing multiple projects in a high-volume, team-oriented environment with a customer service focus. Attention to detail is very important.

You have a working knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply government policies and procedures. A working knowledge and/or training in SAP Accounts Payable, Receivable, General Ledger and Procurement would be assets.

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Equivalency

An equivalent combination of training, education, and experience will be considered. Equivalencies may include but are not limited to:

  • Completion of a 2-year diploma and 3 years of related experience
  • Completion of a related bachelor\'s degree and 1-year of experience

Working Conditions

You will be working within a high-paced, busy office environment with strict deadlines. Most of your time is spent in a comfortable office setting. Your normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day.

Additional Information

Two (2) full-time permanent positions are available with a flexible worksite. DCS has offices across the province which you can view . Your worksite location will be determined at the offer negotiation stage. This position offers the opportunity to enroll in the Flex NS working hours.

Pay Grade: CL 22

Salary Range: $1,924.59 - $2,128.70 Bi-Weekly
