This position works closely with the Curriculum Team Lead and Assistant Dean, Curriculum at the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) program office at the U of A, the NAMP Faculty Curriculum Directors and Leads, Regional Academic Lead, other NAMP staff and NWP Faculty and Staff.This position oversees the day-to-day management of the NAMP curriculum staff by monitoring workflow, maintaining quality standards, accreditation standards, and developing and implementing action plans to meet program goals. The incumbent supervises staff that provide day-to-day oversight of the four year MD program curriculum and ancillary activities in Grande Prairie. The incumbent provides direct support to the Regional Academic Lead, NAMP and NWP Curriculum faculty, ME Expansion Manager, and course coordinators and other leadership as needed.This position is based at the Northwestern Polytechnic Health Education Centre in Grande Prairie.Duties

  • In partnership with all members of the Undergrad Medical Education (UME) Curriculum team and NWP faculty and staff, implement the MD curriculum management plan to ensure the appropriate delivery of the curriculum at the NAMP Campus.
  • Manages, coaches, motivates, develops and supervises the NAMP MD curriculum staff who have a primary responsibility for the administration of the NAMP MD program curriculum and ancillary details.
  • Oversee academic scheduling of courses/rotations for all students, and maintain this information within Campus Solutions. This includes development and communication of the year one and two global schedules and year three and four track schedules.
  • Responsible for the administrative support, guidance and oversight of all aspects of NAMP as it pertains to curriculum scheduling and delivery including the longitudinal course elements, and Discovery Learning program.
  • Ensures learning objectives, schedules, course materials, and vodcasts are posted in the curriculum delivery and management system and that that the learning objectives are clearly documented and communicated to instructors and learners.
  • Support course coordinators to maintain updated course outlines and syllabi, and to recruit instructors, preceptors and facilitators.
  • Conducts, actively participates in and/or provides administrative oversight and support to regular meetings and committees with relevant U of A UME, NAMP, and NWP staff and faculty to discuss upcoming deadlines, procedural changes and to maintain connections to ensure consistency.
  • Other duties as it connects to curriculum and as needed within the Northern Alberta Medical Program.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree in Business, Education or related areas; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Experience in medical education is preferred.
  • Experience in operation and management of a post-secondary educational program.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience; completion of a supervisory development program is an asset.
  • Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PeopleSoft, Google Apps.
  • Ability to work in an ambiguous environment.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours (days, evenings and weekends).
  • Expertise in curricular implementation, curriculum mapping, supervision, and data management, are an asset.
  • Experience and/or courses dealing with difficult scenarios and handling sensitive information would be beneficial.
  • Experience in a post-secondary institution would be an asset to this role.
  • Knowledge of university/faculty policies is required to carry out responsibilities effectively.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Superior oral and written communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills; strong commitment to client service with a positive, professional approach.
