Your Opportunity:

The Team Lead is responsible for ensuring all team members develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of all position related policies and procedures. The Team Lead will train and mentor front line Protective Services staff. This is inclusive of, but not limited to, probationary and ongoing training in relation to routine operational requirements, crisis intervention and code response. The Team Lead also assumes a lead role in emergency response, including deployment of staff and resources and informing management and administration of emergent issues and untoward incidents. The Team Lead for Protective Services will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. 12-hour shifts; 4 on 4 off. Please include a copy of your successful PARE completion (completed within the prior 6 months) certificate in your application. Candidates who have not already received CPOIP training must have a valid PARE to be considered for this opportunity.

Description:

This position is responsible and accountable for providing the direction, team leadership and organization over the activities of the Protective Services Team in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. The position is responsible and accountable for making unit-level decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for contributing to the achievement of the goals of Protective Services. Team Lead is also responsible for documentation of all safety and security related incidents, including review of incident reports completed by his or her frontline staff. The Team Lead will be required to work 12 hours shifts and be able to travel throughout the Central Zone during that 12 hour period.

Required Qualifications:

To be eligible to become a Team Lead you will need to meet the minimum requirements: Alberta class 5 operator\'s license, or a provincial equivalent, with no more than four demerits and no charges or pending suspensions. Hold a current Community Peace Officer appointment. Active or eligible for an appointment as a Community Peace Officer I by the Alberta Solicitor General. Ability to work a 24-hour shift rotation that includes holidays and weekends. Completed Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (PARE) with a minimum passing time at or under four minutes and forty-five seconds (4:45).
Additional Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in uniformed public servant roles or emergency services (military, forestry, park ranger, corrections, Peace Officer). Cadet program experience. Community involvement or volunteering (unpaid positions). Knowledge of or training in harm reduction, anti-racism and Indigenous awareness. Fluent in languages other than English. Previous supervisory experience is an asset.
