Teaching Assistants, Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy
The Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy (JSGS) invites applications for Teaching Assistant (TA) positions for the winter 2026 term of the 2025-26 regular session.
The general duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant positions will include:

  • Preparing for and delivering and/or attending lectures;
  • Assisting with grading work;
  • Helping to maintain the class and/or online discussion forums (as applicable);
  • Student consultation and holding office hours;
  • Providing tutorials on economics and/or briefing note writing to students (as applicable);
  • Conferring with and taking direction from the instructor; and
  • Providing assistance with other course matters as assigned.
These positions will work on campus. The TAs will report formally to the JSGS Director of Administration, and their work will be directed and supervised by the respective course instructor.
Required Number of Hours: Total of 120 hours over the winter 2026 term (each position)

  • JSGS 864.3 Social Policy: Interdisciplinary Perspectives (delivered online asynchronously)

Qualifications (Skills and Abilities)
  • For JSGS 802, a strong understanding of the public finance system is required.
  • For JSGS 864, experience working with social programs would be an asset; additionally, comfort with the research paper format would be an asset.
  • For all positions, the following are required:
  • Minimum of a master's degree in economics, political science, public administration, public policy, or equivalent;
  • Excellent communication skills; and
  • The incumbents must be registered in a graduate program at the University of Saskatchewan and be in good standing with the College of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies; priority will be given to students enrolled in the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy.
  • For all positions, the following would be assets:
  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant; and
  • Experience working in the public service or public sector.
