We are currently seeking
Teaching Assistants
(TAs) for our
Health Care Assistant (HCA) Program
. This position is flexible in nature. The TA will work directly with each Faculty member to negotiate Daily/weekly outcomes to be met.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate in the pre-semester faculty orientation sessions to prep for the semester ahead.
Identify reoccurring challenges across the courses being delivered each semester with regards to content, Moodle structure, delivery, etc. and bring those forward at the weekly/monthly debriefing meetings.
Support Faculty with tasks such as:
+ Assisting with Marking Assignments and certificates
+ Providing feedback to students on Assignments,
+ one-on-one sessions to support students who need additional academic support, as recommended by faculty.
+ Reviewing and Evaluating exams, assignments and assessments in collaboration with the lead instructor
+ Reviewing course content in advance and being prepared to support or cover the lead instructor as needed.

NOTE:
Tasks will be negotiated between the TA and each faculty member on a week to week basis
Qualifications
Current, unrestricted full registration as a
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
,
Registered Nurse (RN),
or
Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN)
with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
Demonstrated ability to teach adult learners (e.g., completion of a Provincial Instructor Diploma or equivalent education, or previous teaching experience supported by satisfactory references, performance evaluations, and/or student course evaluations)
Two or more years of full-time Canadian nursing experience (1 year = 1,400 hours), with strong knowledge of the Canadian health care system, the roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members and current policies and procedures within residential and community care settings
Nursing experience must include:
+ Working with older adults with complex health needs
+ Experience or orientation (e.g., shadow shifts) in home support and multi-level/complex care Previous experience teaching and/or studying in an online learning environment; experience using Moodle as a learning management system is preferred
