This position is 1.0 PY (full-time position).

Located in the picturesque hamlet of Gjoa Haven, Qiqirtaq High School serves the community of Gjoa Haven. The school has a population of approximately 180 students in a 7-12 setting with a staff of 24. The school and community are steeped in a rich history of Inuit culture.

Required qualifications:

Bachelor of Education degree or pending degree Teaching certification acceptable for Nunavut teaching certificate

In the event that this competition becomes an open until filled posting, this position may be offered as a one year term under Letter of Authority.

Desired qualifications:

Experience in numeracy learning continuum across developmental levels that embraces conceptual understanding of mathematics concepts to strengthen overall understanding Experience in collaborative support of colleagues in the effective creation, implementation and use of differentiated instruction strategies to explore mathematics in a hands on environment Experience with formative and summative assessment implementation, reporting and analysis Experience planning, directing, facilitating and/or reviewing peer workshops and professional development modules for adult learners Experience in modeling and/or coaching instructional strategies for teachers Evidence/experience building positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, stakeholders Teaching experience in an ESL environment Cross-cultural and/or northern teaching experience

Please note: Subsidized housing is available; however, sharing may be required.

The salary for certified teachers ranges from $75,928 prorated/annum. to $142,955 prorated/annum.



The Northern Allowance for Gjoa Haven is $26,345 prorated/annum.
