Kitikmeot School Operations invites applications for the following position: Jr. High Generalist Teacher & a focus on High School Social Studies



Grade: 7-12

The position is 1.0 PY (full-time position).

Located in the picturesque hamlet of Taloyoak, Netsilik School serves the community of Taloyoak. The school has a population of approximately 385 students in a K-12 setting with a staff of 43. The school and community are steeped in a rich history of Inuit culture.


Required qualifications:




Bachelor of Education degree or Pending Degree Teaching certification acceptable for Nunavut Teaching Certificate

In the event that this competition becomes an open until filled posting, this position may be offered as a one year term under Letter of Authority.




Desired qualifications:




Experience and / or training with current assessment methods Evidence of differentiated instruction and inclusive practices Experience and / or training in classroom management practices and the development of positive learning environments (eg. Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports, etc.) Cross-cultural and/or northern teaching experience Evidence of training and / or experience in the area of Balanced Literacy Training and / or teaching experience in an ESL environment Evidence / experience building positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, stakeholders Experience building literacy skills through various subjects areas Experience working as a collegial member of the overall school team and to plan for students using a collaborative approach

Please note: Subsidized housing is available but sharing may be required.





The salary for certified teachers ranges from $75,928 prorated/annum. to $142,955 prorated/annum.



The Northern Allowance for Taloyoak is $30,424 prorated/annum.
